I’ve been writing for a long time, but this kind of book—the scope, the subject, the themes, the extensive research and interviews, the sheer scope of Buffy’s incredible life—was pretty daunting. I was so happy to discover that I could manage something so vast and not get totally overwhelmed.
I also spent a lot of time deep in Buffy Sainte-Marie’s discography, and I loved writing about her music at length, contextualizing it and framing it within relation to her life and her experiences, but also the political and social climates of the 20th and 21st centuries.
