Who do you consider to be exceptional?
I have an admiration for free spirits. In the 18th century, Émilie du Châtelet was a remarkable example of a free, learned and independent intellectual woman.
I also have great admiration for all the anonymous women who, in our society, are responsible for the care and education of their children, often by themselves and in precarious financial situations.
Could you shed some light on your activity as a collector of old and rare books, especially your beginnings?
I am fortunate to have a family library consisting mainly of works from the 18th century. That inspired me to begin collecting old books.
My latest acquisitions: Pamela, a successful novel written by the Englishman Samuel Richardson in 1740 Les Fables nouvelles de M. de la Motte published in 1719
Which authors have you read in recent months?
At the moment I am reading the latest work by Genevan author Joël Dicker, the Enigma of the room 622, which takes place between Geneva and Verbier, places that I know well. I like music in general. I go regularly to the Opera and the concert (in Geneva at the Grand Théâtre and the Victoria Hall).
I am very involved in the management of the Verbier Festival, one of the best classical music festivals in the world. Because of my involvement, I developed friendships with many musicians.
